Courage and Perseverance

In today's reading, Frita told Gabe that he needs more perseverance. What do you think she meant by that? If you do not know what that word means, how can you find out? Make sure you do before answering this question.

Do you think Frita is a good friend to Gabe? Why or why not? Give me some examples from the book.

Frita and Gabe are working on their courage by facing their fears. Do you have something you are working on that you are trying to conquer or make better?

#1. I think Frita meant that she wanted Gabe to keep trying to get braver and not give up so he could go to the 5th grade. I could find out what perseverance meant by, asking someone, looking in the dictionary, ect.

#2. I think Frita has been a good friend because I think she was making Gabe face his fears because she wanted to help (and she wanted him to go to 5th grade). Like when she made him go on the rope swing she actually really helped because he conquered his fear of it and now he really likes it!

#3. I'm trying to get better at beating my dad at monoploly and doing my homework earlier.

I think it means he needs to work harder at facing his fears. He keeps trying to go with the easy ones on his fear list, but if he keeps doing that, he won't face his biggest fears. I think Frida is a good friend because, even though she did the whole thing with Terrence, she's just trying to help him. Nothing comes to mind when I think about if I'm trying to conquer anything. I am afraid of some things, but nothing I am trying to conquer them.

I think she meant that Gabe needs bite down to spite the difficulties of facing his fears.

I think she is an OK friend because she sort of makes decisions for him that he doesn't want to do, but she is making him braver at the same time. In this chapter she got him to know Terrence when he didn't want to.

I'm working on trying to go down in my basement alone without chickening out.

Frita is a good and okay friend because they like each other and are almost opposites. Frita's tough and Gabe isn't. Gabe is scared; Frita isn't. It's kinda weird that they're friends but they are! Frita wondered why Gabe was so afraid of Terence!

I think she meant like to get over something of his fesr of Terrance. I think Frita is a great friend but at times she can push him into something that he might not want to do. Like when she pulled him down the stairs to her basement. I'm trying to get over my fear of ALLIE and Giannia but they're scarie in a good way.

1. When Frita said you need more perseverance I think she meant you need to keep trying. Don't give up on getting rid of your fears on the list.

2. I do think Frita is a good friend to Gabe because she made the plan to rid Gabe of all his fears so they can go to fifth grade together. When she told Gabe she had a plan Gabe wasn't so sure about it. I think sometimes he just wants a little bit of excitement. Also, I agree with Ben. How did Frita and Gabe become friends? They're complete opposites.

3. I'm trying to get better at basketball and do a lefty lay-up. Also, I want to be the best scrabble player I can be.
See you all Friday!

I think Frita is a good friend to Gabe. She is one of those people who helps her friends. She helps Gabe by crossing one of his fears off every time he concurs one. She also has alot of courage by tackling Gabes worst enemy, Duke Evens and gets his shirt covered in punch.

When Frita told Gabe he needed more perseverance I think she meant that he needs to stop giving up on facing his fears. I looked up what perseverance meant and it basically said that perseverance means to never give up in anything no matter how hard it is. I think Frita is a very good friend of Gabe's because she is helping him face his fears and once he get's to fifth grade he will probably not be scared of anything! I don't have anything that I am trying to conquer or make better now that I can think of.
