Three Cups of Tea-Main Character

Hello Room Full of Readers!
Happy Monday!
We have just entered into chapter 5 of our read-aloud.  What have we learned about Greg Mortenson so far?  What kind of person is he?  What things or people have we learned about that probably greatly influenced his life?  What question have occurred to you while listening to this story?

Happy Blogging!  Remember to make sure your blog is AT LEAST 5 sentences, check your grammar and mechanics and make sure your comments are thoughtful.  If you make a claim, be sure to back it up.

For example, Greg was a courageous person.  I know this because he decides to climb a truly difficult and intimidating mountain, K2.

Hello room 2308ers! :)
It's a good book so far. Greg seams caring because he desides to build a school for them and he climbs K2, in honer of Christa. He also seems to me that when ne says something, he really means it. I'm not really sure, but I think that maybe his dad influences him. He must have been anoyed that eh got lost twice, but scary.

Hey It's Georgia,
I have learned that Greg Mortenson is a man who wants to make a difference. He is also a very loving and caring person. We have learned about Greg's parents and his sister and how they influenced his life by showing Greg that he can do anything if he just believes. I think Greg is a great person and has goals that some people only dream of achieving. See you in school tomorow. :) :) :)

One question the goes through my mind. Is how can you stay over night with NO shelter. Near the SUMMIT of K2. Waht really pushed him to want to go to the summit of. K2 is because of his sister and the necklece he wanted. To put at the top.

Hello room 2308!
I think that Greg is a very caring and promising person. I think that because he said to the kids " I'll build you a school." I also think that he is a very courageous person because he decided to go back and climb K-2 after his sister died. He is also a very emotional person because when his sister died and also when he saw the children trying to learn their lessons without a teacher and in the freezing cold. Climbing K-2 probably had greatly influenced his life, when Crista died, seeing the children at the"school", and maybe more things that we haven't heard about. My question about the story is what encouraged him to climb K-2 the difficult mountain?
I can't wait until we learn more about Greg!

Hi
I know Greg Morton son is brave because when he got lost he did not cry or wine (not that a grown man would do that). His dad and sister died of sickness. One thing I am wondering is why did he wan't to climb K2 in the first place? I can't think of what hhis name was but he was the guy who held Greg's backpack when they where walking. I also think Greg was very ditermend to climb K2. Because I don't know anyone who would keep climbing after getting lost.

What Up 2308er's!,
Greg is a very nice person because he would make sure his sister,Krista, would not get made fun of in school and he built a school for kids he doesn't even know tha is how nice he is. He is also very brave because he got lost 2 times(so far) I would be terrified to sleep in a country I don't know very well. If I were him I would stay awake all night and if I heard a noise I would be gone in a half a second. Greg is also very brave to climb the 2nd tallest mountain in the world and he had kids what if your dad never came back from climbing a mountain if that happened to me I would never climb a mountain again. I wonder how the book will explain what happens when he leaves? Will he leave? I wonder.................

Hi it's Tom. We've learned that Greg Mortenson is a very successful climber. And that he was climbing K2 and lost his buddy. Then he found a town named Korphe. Then in Korphe he saw children doing school outside in the cold. so he thought to himself and said I'm going to make a school for these kids.

Hey!
Well I think Greg is very thoughtful because when his sister died in her oner he was going to climb K2 to put a necklace up there for her. I also think he's not one of those people who just think about himself he thinks about all these other people. Like when he saw the kids trying to learn by themselves he realized that they don't deserve that so he decided to put an end to no schools. I also have to say that the book can be confusing because of all of the unfamiliar names. I think his sister influenced him because, since she was sickish she was strong and I thought that she taught him to be strong and brave and to take chances and not be afraid to do something right. Thats what I think of Three Cups Of Tea and Greg!

Hi Diana
I wrote about the same thing as you on my blog about what kind of person Greg is. Also when you said that you think he's a great person because he told the kids at Korphe he would build a school for them. I feel that Greg is a very emotional person also. I also think that Greg's life almost seems to fall right in to place. Greg is a truly amazing person who knows how to make a difference in a good way and doesn't give up. See you in school tomorrow.

Dear room 2380,

Something we learned about Greg is that he really likes helping people. He showed that by promising to build a school for a village. Something else that we learned about him is that he is very adventurous because he decided to climb a mountain when he was only 10 years old and he tried to climb K2. One of the questions I had while listening to the story was whether or not Greg would find his way off of the mountain. I also think that Greg is very generous because he promised to build a school even though he did not know how he was going to get the money to do it.

HEY!
Well Zoe I have to agree with you because I know I wouldn't really want to climb a mountain after getting lost. Leah I also agree with on when Greg says something he really means it. Greg is NOT one of those people who just says stuff so people just stop bugging him. Georgia I have to agree with you that Greg really wants to make a difference. At the part were at I feel bad for Greg because he has like no money and his plan kind of backfired. I mean how would you feel if you didn't have any money and no place to live. I can't wait to find out if Greg ever builds the school!!

Hillo (I wanted to do that because it's a mix betwin hi and hello).

I agree with Michael. It's sad at some parts and it's funny at some parts. For example for sad, when his sister dies of a seger. And for funny is when he gets hit by the branches on the truck. I thought the graphite boards were fun and helpful.

Hello Room 2308,

I just finished reading Percy Jackson and the Battle of the Labyrinth. It is about Percy and his friends going into a labyrinth and finding Daedalus before Kronos and his evil army does! The book is very funny, it has super funny chapter names like "Nico buys Happy Meals for the Dead," or "I scoop Poop!" Kronos is the SUPER EVIL lord of the Titan's. He thinks that the Titan's should rule the world, not the Gods. It is also very exciting, in pretty much every chapter Percy gets almost killed!
