Magyk Book Talk

I rate Magyk by Angie Sage a ten because how she explains the scene, characters, and the way they feel.  Magyk is an adventurous novel with action, adventure, and excitement bursting out of the seams.  In this book you will meet Jenna who is actually is the princess, you will also meet boy 412, and Jenna's "brothers" and family.  This book is about first finding the seventh son of the seventh son, and saving Jenna from the assassins trying to kill her so she will not take over the throne, because the supreme custodian wants the throne to belong to him forever until he dies.  This book is part of a five book series and I am on the second named Flyte and I am really looking forward to reading the rest of the series.  So do you love it or hate it?  If you ahte it I suggest you change your philosophy and at least try it because it is good, really good.

Discussion Points:

1.  Please share what you noticed and liked about this book talk.  Remember to reference the 5 S's......Specifics, summary, strong points, suggestions, and selling point.
2.  Give any feedback for grammar and editing points that you notice.  Please remember to give feedback in a respectful and helpful way.

1. I noticed that in your booktalk you capitalized all of your titles. Nice job!! I liked how in the end you said "because its good, really good."
2. I think that you should put a some more details in your summary because it didn't really make sense to me. Also, hate is spelled h-a-t-e.

GREAT JOB!!:)

Hi Mrs. Simonds or Josh
1. I like the choice of words like philosophy. I like how you descibed the supreme custodian. But the assassin, is the he working for the supreme custodian or did he just want to kill the princess?
2. I think this book talk is sort of in random order also who in the world is boy 412? I don't get the part about Jenna being the princess how does that work? I think you might have to read some of the book to under stand this book talk but it does seem like a great book I might add it to my list. I love it. Oh and how's the second book flyte????!!!! Like the book talk! PEACE!!!!!!!!!

PEACE!! again.

I liked Josh's booktalk, but it was very confusing when he didn't explain it himself. What I liked about it was his describing of the action and the excitement. That sort of made it hard for me to read and comprehend his booktalk.

I noticed the mistake athe, instead of hate but I can see how that happens.

He gave us a summary mostly, the simmiliar Flyte, the specifics of the summary, why the summary was good, and a wrap up that confused me(sorry for the long sentence).

Dear Mrs.S,

1. I really liked Josh's book talk. I enjoyed his suggestion at the end of the book talk, when he said "If you hate it I suggest that you should change your philosophy and try it because it is good, really good." I also like how Josh did the specifics of the book, like when he mentioned the title and the author. It is very important to mention the author and the title when you do a book talk. Josh also did a good job on his summary because he explained major details of the book.
In Josh's book talk I did notice a grammar error and a spelling error. However, if Josh was trying to sell this book, I think he would sell the book very quickly.

I loved your book talk! You made me really want to read that book. My favorite part of your book talk was when you said, "If you ahte it I suggest you change your philosophy and at least try it because it it is good, really good." I also liked how you spoke clearly, and made eye contact with us.
My only suggestion is that you change ahte to hate, and also put a comma before the "and" in your last sentence.

Hola Mrs. Simonds,
The first and biggest thing that I noticed was that it was all one paragraph instead of each S being a new paragraph. Also some parts I didn't entirely understand in this booktalk like when it says "First finding of the seventh son of the seventh son".
I really liked this booktalk. I think that it was well written and most of it I could understand. Overall I loved this booktalk and I think I might just add this book to my 'to read' list! Happy Reading!!!

Hi Mrs. Simonds, and Josh,
The book talk was very enthusiastic. It seemed really good for people that like fantasy. I probably would not really love the book, but maybe try it.
I think that because I like realistic fiction books. I like books that are just possible in every day life. But I still think that your book talk was a well written book talk.
It did not give away too much information but just right.
Nice summary.

To Mrs. Simonds,
1. I liked your summary I think you put in just enough detail to make the reader get more interested in the book. I think you put in a lot of suggestions for the book. I also liked the strong points in the book talk. Some of the details that you put in that I like was when you told the reader about what the problems is, the main character name and what kind of book it is.
2. I noticed that your book talk spelled hate as ahte. I liked the book talk, I thought it was great.

In it there were a few mistakes like he wrote ahte when it is supposed to be hate. I like how you wrote the authors name and tittle of the book. Next time remember to have someone edit it for mistakes. It is helpful because when I edited mine there were many mistakes. You did a good job presenting your book talk. I confused me a few times in your summery, otherwise it sounds really good.

I totally agree with you when he said "if you hate it I suggest you change your philosophy and try it because it is good, really good."
I also agree that he was very specific.
Like when he told the author, rating, why he liked it,
and the title.
I think he did a pretty good summary but it was most of his book talk. Well what I mean is that that pretty much is book talk.
He did have no offense but a lot of errors. Well sort of.
Yes if he was selling it, probably a lot of copies would be bought!!!

To Will, Toby, and Moby

I'm confused, I must not of comphrehended Josh's BT because I've no idea what you're talking about. An asassin killed a princess, you indeed were paying attention because I didn't catch that.

Yes, Josh understands the BT because he read the book, but I caught the point though. Philosophy is indeed random, Boy 412 is something though.

Josh cannot change my philosophy, I refuse to read the book. Not because I didn't like his BT, but because of a complex 4th Grade War I do not want to explain!

I also noticed that Josh made it all 1 paragraph instead of each s having its own. I also didn't really understand the part when he said "First Finding of the second son of the second son."

I really liked this booktalk too. I could also understand it. I have already added this to my "Whats Next List."

See You tomorrow!

Hi Mrs.Simonds and Josh,
1: I liked that you made it sound suspenseful and really good.

2: I really think you did a good job on the summery but maybe you said a little to much. Also you spelled hate wrong in the end you spelled it ahte it is spelled H*A*T*E. Other than that it was really good!
