Krindlekrax By Philip Ridley day 1

Hello Room of Readers!!!
So, we started a new book today, "Krindlekrax" by Philip Ridley.  I would love to hear your reactions to chapter one.  Think about the following questions and post me a response.  Your response should be AT LEAST 5 sentences, edited for your best work, thoughtful and complete.

What was your first reaction as we started the chapter and met Ruskin and his family?  Did you like any one character more than the others?  If so, why or why not?

Many of you talked about the pictures that you had in your head as we read the first chapter.  Tell me about the pictures that you had.  How do you think the author influenced the pictures that you saw?  Do you think what you saw in your head was the same for each of us in the class?

What are you looking forward to learning about as we read through the story?

hey mrs simonds!

i think that its funny cause, Ruskin doesn't fit the part of the hero. brave, musles, voice like thunder, wonderful, hansum... Hes not at all those things. He wouldn't fit the part. Wendy, his mom, and his dad were right.
I pictured the kition really small and they are cramed in it with a straight, long, narrow, counter in the midle. Toast piled high on a plate.
i can't wait to read on in "krindlekrax". But i just don't get why its called that. Well i'll have to read on to see!

The discripan of Ruskin was nice. It was funny that the father said I did't do it every time somthing happed. It was sad when his old friend started to lanch the football at windows. I liked that the mother counldint live without tea and toust. It was sad that the ather old freind was afrad of evis.

hey everyone,
well to begin I would like say that Ruskin is my favorite character because he seems confident and happy the way he is! What I saw in my head was a kitchen with a table in the middle with a giant stack of toast and three thin short orange haired people, that had tea in there hands. I think the author influenced the pictures in our heads by using describing words. I think some people were thinking the same but not everyone because they all are probably picturing something different. I'm looking forward to finding out if Ruskin gets the part of being a hero!!!-
Sincerely,
GEORGE THE AWESOME ONE!!!***!!!***!!!***!!!***!!!=]

Hey this is Georgeena [Georgia]. I really like the book "Krindlekrax" because the author very nicely explains the book so that I can understand it. I feel like Ruskins mom and dad don't really support Ruskin and his parents might as well be calling Ruskin a wimp. The picture in my head looked similar to my friend Kayla's house. I'm looking forward to find out if Ruskin gets the part of the hero in his play.

Hi it's ben. I think Ruskin's parents were unsupportive of him when he told them about the play . I hope he gets the part. They are very... well... interesting people. the auther sort of only described what was in the rooms, but that sort of described how the room would look. I bet nobody had the picture that the auther had in his head. I can't wait to here what happens next.

Hello room 2308ers!!!:)
My first reaction from"Krindlekrax" was that I thought the parents were being a little bit mean to Ruskin, Ruskin who wanted to be a hero and his parents were not being to encouraging telling him he was ugly, not strong, and has a wimpy little voice. But I like the mom, I think it's funny when the mom says that weird thing when she's flustard.
One of the images in my head was all the family their red puffy hair, arms like twigs, fuzzy socks worn by the dad, and fuzzy slipers worn by the mom. Another image I had in my head was of the big 9 year old kid knoking on their door, I picured him to be HUGE and mean and he was.
I am looking foward to meeting the charaters more. I'm also looking foward to finding out why the book is named Krindlekrax?

P.S. I love the voices you use when you're reading!!:)

I think the people in the story are a little weird. For example I don't know any one who would treat a nine year old so much like they would a grown up bully. I'm not saying you are a bully Mrs,Simods. I Love the story so much so far.

Hi Mrs. Simonds,
So far I like KrindleKrax it is funny how all the adults so far have ignored Ruskin. Also it is sort of not good for Ruskin because his teacher didn't give him a chance. Poor Ruskin he praticed all his lines and the teacher didn't do anything about the class laughing at him. The teacher just sent Ruskin back to his seat. I think that Ruskin is going to get the part of the hero somehow.

From Fuzzel aka Lauren the youngest in the class.

The picture I had in my head was that his parents were wimps because they were scared of a nine year old boy. I think that Ruskin is going to get the part and that elvis not going to end up with the part any more.

My first reaction when we stared the book was the parents and the Ruskin were very much alike but some how difrent like they all looked a like but the acted diferent. The mom always needed bread and tea, to me that was the weirdest thing i have ever heard of. Then the dad comes along and always says ,"Not my fault."
the picture that i had in my head as you were reading was that the mom,dad and the kid looked identical.I think the next book we sould read is if you are reading this it is to late.

The first chapter of krindlekrax was really funny.I thought that it was a really weird family. That was week and afraid of Elves. And that elves, sparky and the main charater where once friends.

hey sup mrs simonds

I think that the teacher was mean because he didnt. give ruskin. a chance because he was so small and every one was laughing at him. so the teacher told him to sit down. then he had elvis come up and when he finished. he gave him the part so it wasent. fair to ruskin

My reactions to chapter one is that I hate how Wendy keeps on saying polly wolly doodle all the day! It gets really annoying!!!!! Some people think it's really funny, but for me it was the first couple times. I like the dad because he says I didn't do it. Witch is something I say. I am looking forward to wendy stop saying that word.

hello people!!!!!!!!
I thought that Ruskin was a little weird beacause he kept on repeating his lines for the hero part. I agree with NUGGET MAN how it sorta of gets really annoying for me how Wendy always says polly wolly doodle all the day, all the time. I also thought that the dad was a little weird beacause he always says " it's not my fault" all the time. I also thought that it was very sad that Ruskin's dad lost his job at the zoo and he was despartate for real animals. The pictures I had in my head was when Elvis was a little kid. I pictured a cute, sweet, and innocent little boy. I also thought that Dr.Flower[?] was funny beacause he would always sneezes.

Hi Mrs.Simonds!!! I love this book!! I really feel bad for Ruskin because his parens don't give him any support. Even though Ruskin is not tall or wonderful or brave he does not have muscles and he most definetly does not have a voice like thunder. I pictured the kitchen as a very small room with a little blue table and BIG stack of toast on the table.I also pictured a little sink and a window over it (soon to be broken window!!)I love KrindleKrax and can not wait to read more!!!!!!!! love monkey 101 aka julia.h!!!!

I didnt like that the parents said he was not hansome not strong not anytihng. But any ways i loved it. I also didnt like that elvis keeps picking on Ruskin. And that sparky is still friends with elvis. And that elvis stole his football. And that sparky obeys elvis's every command.
