Hello again room 2308 Readers!
Well, Maniac sure has had some interesting....and scary...encounters with a variety of people in the story so far, and we are only up to chapter 12!
Maniac Magee is the main character, and you did a nice job of describing some his character traits last night.
I think we can agree that Amanda is going to be important to Maniac's story. She is the secondary character in the story. She is important, but not the main focus of the story.
Discussion Points:
1. Using the Character Traits handout that you found in your mailbox today, describe Amanda's character. Please be sure to use examples from the story to back up what you say.
2. In your own independent reading book, ( that you are reading in class and for 20 minutes each night), tell us about the main and secondary characters. Explain what character traits they have, as always, using examples from the book to back up what you say.

In my book Eragon is an intelligent spellcaster, half of it cause he's part elf. He is a brave warrior that is not afraid of Galbatorix. His dragon Saphire is a loyal warrior too, that works hard to protect Eragon's life.

I am reading The Tale of Emily Windsnap I think the main character is Emily and the second main character is Shona. I think Emily is adventurous, imaginative brave mischievous, plain, strong, wild, creative, joyful, respectful, and a fighter. I also think Shona is honest, brave, mischievous, thoughtful, plain, creative, independent, wild, unselfish, respectful, helpful, friendly, adventurous, quiet, smart, and energetic.

In my own book, Catching Fire, the main charecters are Katniss and Peeta. The secondary charecters are Haymich, Prim, Gale, Mags, Finnick, and Effie.

Amanda is a colored girl who is brave and demanding. Amanda got very angry when Mars Bar ripped her book. Still I don't understand how Amanda figured out that it was mars bars ripped her page. I think that Amanda was very successful at figuring out that Mars Bars had ripped her book. It was like she was there the whole time with Jeffery.

I think Maniac Magee is simple and brave,
because he was brave to save the boy in the yard that no one goes into, and I think he is simple because he has old shoes old clothes and things that are plain.
I think Amanda is bold because she is very protective of her books and if anyone touches them then she will get mad and hurt them.

My book that I am reading right now is called Scat. The main character is Nick and he is very curious. His teacher has just disappeared and he snuck into his teachers house to look to see if she was there and alright. The second character is a girl named Marta. She is always very patriotic energetic.

Fist of all I think Amanda is somewhat poor, smart, and definitely a reader!!!!!!!!! I think Amanda is cool and respects others. I think she is poor because she lives on the east end ( or west. Yikes I forgot!!!!!!!! ) and it seems very poor there. I think Amanda is smart because she has a lot of books and it seems that she likes to read. I think Amanda is cool and respectful because she gave Miniac a book. Second of all in my book Battle Of The Labyrinth Percy the main character is a leader, brave, thrilling, somewhat independent, messy, strong, has courage, handsome, popular, successful, adventurous and energetic. I think he is adventurous because he goes into the labyrinth ( it's a maze ) with courage. Annabeth the secondary character she is basically the same as Percy because there friends and they do lots of stuff together!!

Hi Mrs. Simonds,
1.For me this is a hard question because so far Amanda is only in the story twice but I think she is sort of bossy and wants her books to be respected.
2. My book is split in to four parts and there are four main characters. Each character is a main character in each part. The characters are Logan (the candy makers son), Miles a (contestant), Daisy (another contestant), and Philip (another contestant). I only know of one secondary character max he helps the kids in the factory like getting ingredients showing them how to make candy

I think that Amanda is-
Serious like about her books because she brings them back and forth from school just so that her younger siblings don't do anything to them, I would just hide them, but I also think she 's smart to do that.
A little overly protective though because at first she dosen't want to lend Maniac a book and finaly she just throws the book at him so she wouldn't be any later for school.
Sort of crazy because a stranger just walks up to her and she lends him a book.
The main charecters in my book The Sisterhood of Travling Pants are- Tibby who is rather negitive because all her friends are going on fun adventures and she's not happy for them just because she is staying home for the summer.
Lena who is shy and and likes to keep to herself and not really open minded.
Carman who is cheerful and very full-hearted is a fun loving Carian girl.
And Bridget is an extremely tall soccer player who is sort of the stand upper.

I think that Amanda is a brave girl like Maniac but maniac is a boy. Amanda is very serious like she never gets to joke around.Unlike most kids Amanda is very neat when she had her suitcase full of books it was very orginized and she liked every thing neat! She is also very loyal like when at the end when she didn't belive Mars that Maniac ripped her book. That was loyal!
My book is called The Shadows and the main character is Olive she is brave like when she gets sucked into the painting she doesn't really care. I would be really scared.she is also really daring like just wanted to see what the paintings did so she climbed right in most people would hesitate.
i only have one secondary character and that is Horaito is really full of him self when he walked into Olives room he looked in the mirror and started licking his paw he is also very bossy like when he showed them the way out of the painting every 5 seconds he would say follow me or hurry up so he is really bossy

I think Amanda is bossy but it is hard to tell because she is only In the story very little and for short periods of time.
One of the characters in my book is named Susan Caroll and she is tall, respectful and thoughtful.The main character Stevie is short, friendly and creative.

I saw that Emma was reading the book Emily Windsnap. I had been reading that book in the summer. Right now I am reading book 3 of Emily Windsnap.I accidentally skipped the 2nd book of Emily Windsnap! Uh Oh! Well that book is one of the best books I have ever read. By the way Emma, I have a book at home called Isabelle And The Whale which is about the sea. If you are really interested in Emily Winsnap you will be very interested in this book. You can just talk to me whenever you want and you can borrow the book.

I would love to borrow your book once I finished The Tale of Emily Windsnap series I am at a really good part when Emily finds out that her mother is a mermaid and her father is a human and Neptune Put Emily father is in jail for life when he found out that a mermaid marred a human. I am at the part when Shona and Emily go back to the pirates ship and the floor is made out of pearl and the celling is made out of emerald.

I think Amanda is helpful, brave, calm, and very kind. I also think shes very very,brave talking to Mars Bars like that.the main charater Roy is cireus and kind. Roy is cireus because there is a boy who was running past the school bus that Roy was rideing on. and the boy who was running had no shoes on and no backpack on.!!he's kind because he smiles alout in the first chapter.(some in 2nd chapter)!! cant wait for school!! from Grace : ) p.s I love maniac migee a lot!!)

i think amanda is a independant girl who loves to read and must have a hard time with her little sibblings recking her books.

I think Amanda is neat because she keeps her library (a suit case) very organized and she is very protective over her books. She is also very brave because she stood up to mars bar now mars bar is probably going to keep his distance from Amanda.
Moe in my book she is really brave because she has set out to find who murdered Mr, jessie. She is also very respectful because she does whatever the colonel says.Dale is not really respectful because he got in so much trouble he has to clean a about 200 year old tobacco bar that nobody has been in for years.
Hello My Fellow Classmates,
I know there is no blog tonight but I would like to do one anyways! My blog tonight is again about my main characters in my book-The Sistorhood of Travling Pants, well a particular character her name is Carmen. To tell you the truth I envy her, her parents are divorced but she isn't so upset that she's unhappy, she is still an enjoyable person.
In many ways Carmen and I are alike such as we both get good grades and we both have three really good frends that always have our back!!! Carmen is a truely good role-model and she is a amazingly good person.
I haved learned many things from this book and know there are more things to follow in the other books in the series!!!

I think Amanda is really brave that she made maniac come home with here and I was really impressed that she told maniac that her home was his home.In my book mo just asked the minister a lot of questions and she said the question before detective Jo star (the actual detective)
