L.O.G.K. -chapters 2-4

Hello Readers!
I am so enjoying reading this book with you! Thank you Candace for suggesting it as our next read-a-loud! I am posting some discussion points for you below from our reading of chapters 2 to 4. You do not have to answer all questions, these are just to get you thinking to help you post. You can also read your classmate's posts to get you thinking as well. If you agree or disagree with someone, remember to be polite, and to back up your thoughts with examples and explanations. Happy blogging...........

In chapters 3 and 4 we read about a lot of uncomfortable events. There seem to be quite a few bullies in Gabe and Frita's town! There also seem to be a lot of people that pretend not to see what is happening.
1. What do you think is worse, bullying behavior or ignoring behavior? Why?

Frita stands up for Gabe and tries to help the situation with the 6th grade boys. Gabe feels she has made the situation worse.
2. Do you think she made it worse? What do you think she could have done differently, or do you think she did the right thing?

In chapter 4 Gabe is in an uncomfortable position. He wants to tell his mother what happened, but he does not want the situation worse.
3. What would you do if you were Gabe?

4. Allie mentioned during our class discussion that this book reminds her a bit of Winn-Dixie. Do you make any other connections so far with this book, either with other books, movies, or stories from your own life?

#1. I think bullying behavior is worse than ignoring because when somebody ignores you they are not doing as much as when somebody bully's you.

#2. I think she made it worse because she made everybody's parent's mad and she made Duke and Frankie more mad. She could have tried to tell the bullies that if they do it even more she might hurt them, and since they are kind of scared of her they would not do it again.

#3. I would make my mom promise not to do anything about it before I told her, and if she promised me I would tell her.

#4. I don't have any connections to to the book.

I think bullying is worse than ignoring behavior because you phsyically hurt. You are also afraid if you tell an adult about it they would bully you even more then before. Ignoring someone would only hurt there feelings.

1. I think ignoring bulling is worse than bulling itself because if you ignore bulling it will keep going on and on.

2. I think that Frita made the situation worse because since she really beat the bullies up they will probably want to get Gabe more.

3. If I were Gabe I would tell my mom because the situation would get worse if I didn't. Most of the time bulling won't get worse when you tell!!

4. One of the connections I made was when Gabe was under the table tied up by his shirt it reminded me of the time when I tied my little brother up with a shirt.

1. I think that ignoring bullying is bad because,it does not help the person in trouble, the bully does not get caught and sooner or later you will be the next victim.

3. I would tell my mom but tell her not to tell the bully or his/her parents.

1.I think bulliing is worse because it is also effacting other people and maybe even bulling probelems will effact your social live.

2.I think Frita kind of made it worse because they now have a reason to not like Gabe and Frita.

3.I don't know because if Gabe does tell his mom they will make the bullies even mader and if he doesn't they will just keep bulling him.

4.I don't really have any connections.

#!. I think bullying behavior is worse because bullying can hurt you or your feelings where as ignoring they just pretend you're not there.

#2. I do think she made it worse because she made Duke and Frankie really mad and i think they're going to bully Gabe even more then before and she could of just told the teacher.

#3. I would make my mom promise she wouldn't do anything and then I would tell her.

#4. I haven't made any connections yet.

1. I think bullying is worse than ignoring because when your bullied it effects you more than when you are ignored.

2. I think Frida made it worse because Duke was bullying Gabe and Frita beating him up made him want to bully him even more.

3. I would tell my parents to feel a little better but I would make them promise that they wouldn't do anything.

4. I don't really have any connections.

1.I think that bullying is much worse, because it makes people feel sad.
2.I think she did the right thing. She wanted to protect her friend.
3. If I was gabe I would tell my mom and the teachers.
4. It reminds me of a bully that bullying another kid in school in a show that I watched that was called static shock, and he helped the kid pick up his books.

①. Even if you ignore bullying it might make it worse, but i would just joke around after they bully me, to make them think they stink at bullying.

②. When Frita stood up for Gabe It was good for that one time, but if Frita keeps doing it, When Frita isn't around, Gabe will probably get bullied.

③. I would tell my Mom what happen. She wouldn't do anything TOO bad to me...

④. This book reminds me of Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

1 I agree with Catherine that if you ignore a bully it will just get worse.

2 I think she made it worse by tackling duke. She could've just told a teacherthat duke is bullying Gabe.

3 I would have to tell my mom to tell a teacher at school the problem.

4 I don't think I have any connections.

#1 Bullying behavior is worse than ignoring behavior because it is more violent.
#2 I think she made it worse. I think she could have been less physical.
#3 I would tell her what happened but tell her not to do anything.
