Today we read "Gila Monsters Meet You at the Airport"by Marjorie Weinman Sharmat. We talked about point of view and how authors can choose different points of view to tell their stories. Different points of view can change how a story is told, and each person's point of view comes from their own experiences, history and who they are.
In your independent book, think about what point of view the story is told from. Explain to us in your post who's point of view the story is told from ( please include the title and author of your book). Why do you think the author chose that point of view? How is it important to the story? How could the story change if it was told from another point of view?

Well right now im reading a book called Bezus and Ramona. I think that Bezus is telling the story form her point of view. But I think if Ramona was telling the sotry she would tell it a little bit different for example, Ramona loved this book and bezus had to read it to her to make her stop bugging her. Bezus did not like to read that book to her but Ramona liked to lisson to it anyway so Bizus might say she hates it but Ramona might say she loves it.

Right know i am reading The girl who could fly. But I have only read 2 pages of that so i will tell you about another book I have read. It is called Dear Dumb Diariy #10. The maine point of view comes from the maine charcter. Her name is Jamie. It is about her point of view with her friends, family, school, teatchers and even her dogs Stinker and Stinket. I did not bring the book home so I will get back to you when I find out who the author is.

I'm reading Skat by Carl Hiassin. I think Nick is telling the story. I'm not quite sure cause it's about different people. Wait, it's just the auther telling the story, a random person out of the blue I pretty sure. I thoght Nick because he's the main charactor. The story is sometimes told from Nick. Like if it was told from Smoke ( Dwane Scrod JR.) then it would be maybe about fires and more about Millicent Winship.

In the book "I Am The Ice Worm". The person who tells the story is named Allison Atwood. You can tell because the story is from her point of view like in the book she'll say something like "I was tired" and just by her saying "I" it tells yourself that she is telling the story. If she wasn't telling the story the book would say something like "Allison was tired", but it doesn't. This is how I know she is telling the story.
I feel this is the type of story that should be told by the person who experienced it. If it was told by someone else it would seem less meaningful. This book is about the personal experience that a girl had. Her point of view adds detail and emotion that makes you feel like you were there.

Right now I am reading the Maximum Ride series.Which is writen by James Patterson. I am reading The Final Warning right now. I think that the leader of the flock, Max (she is a girl) is telling the story from her point of view. If her "sister" Angel was telling it,it would be totally different. One reason is that, at this one part Angel was pretending to be on the bad team because the flock had been captured from the bad guys. (the bad guys were going to kill them) And when that was going to happen Angel helped the flock so they didn't get killed.

I am reading book called CAPTIVATE by Carrie Jones. I think Zara is telling the story from her point of veiw. I think Carrie Jones chose that point of veiw because mabey she belived in pixies and shapeshifters. I think Zara's point of veiw is important because 1 she is the main charcter. 2 she has a problem with the type of pixie she is so she randomly blurts out phobias and the meanings of them so in every chapter it starts with either a phobia and meaning or a thing she is afraid of. For Example... on chapter 2 it says Pixie Tip [Pixies do not look like Tinker Bell. Although they occasionally wear tutus. But seriouslt who dosen't. But in chapter 2 it is a fact instaed of a phobia or a thing Zara is afraid of.

I am reading a book called 39 clues it is by Rick Riordan. I think the point of veiw is frrom the two main characters Amy and Dan Cahill. They are going on a adventure and the are almost like sharing their thoughts. I think Amy and Dan are setting the point of veiw because some people might say the adventure they are going on is VERY scary others might think the oppisite. I am reading the book called The Tail Of Emily Windsnap And the Monster From The Deep by Liz Keller.
When I read the first book Emily told the story from her point of view.In the second book Emily and her old bully Mandy, tell the point of view.When the book begins there are about two chapters about Emily and her point of view, in the 3erd chapter Mandy tells her point of view.It is important to the story because if the author told the story like "then Emily ran down the ramp." it does not sould the same as "I ran down the ramp with excitment."
I think that if it was told from the point of view of the author it woulden't be as good.

Sometimes it's goes to the author, sometimes it's one of the main characters, MaxEarnest another times its being told by Cassandra.

I'm reading Every Soul a Star by Wendy Mass. My book is told from three points of view. The first girl is Ally she lives at a campground and tells about all the stuff she needs to do to get ready for the eclipse and how the campground she lives at is having lot's of people coming to see the eclipse. The second girl the story is told from is a girl named Bree. She's beautiful and wants to become a model. But she ends up moving away so she can't spend summer modeling and working at a store FULL of beauty products. The third person is a boy named Jack. Jack is overweight and different from lot's of people. He fails in school and doesn't want to go to summer school. But his teacher finds a way to get him out of summer school. I think that if it was told by just one of them the story would be boring. But since it's told by three people it's full of surprises. It would be really different if it was told by just one person because the whole point of the story is that they will all meet each other at the eclipse.

The book I'm reading is called "I am the iceworm" by MaryAnn Easley.The main charecter in my story tells it from her point of view, her name is Allison Atwood.I think the author choose it to be Allison's point of view because it is the most interesting and exciting.It is important to the because it brings the most exciting part into the story.If Allison wasn't the one to tell the story the reader wouldn't care as much about what happened to her.If the story was from somebody elses point of view it would have to be a completly different story.

I am reading a book that doesn't have a point of view so a will do a book that I read in the past. I forget the name but it's about a kid named Jake that thinks that peanut butter is gross but another kid named Josh thinks not. They end up being in a big argument. Then Josh asked him to try it one more time. He did and he liked it. I think that has two sides. (or something like that).

Hey Kelsey, As you know I'm reading the same book and I have to agree with you. First of all how do you like the book? I think the book is pretty good. At first I thought about the book and I wasn't really sure who was telling the story and then I relized that Allison was telling the story. Also you are absolutely right it would be a totally different story if it was from someone elses point of view.

the book that i'm reading is called knucklehead. I think the point of view Is that he's telling us about his life with a mom as a nurse and a dad as a principle and five brothers was like. I am reading a book called the Guardians of Ga'Hoole, By Kathryn Lasky. I think the story is told from Soren's point of view. Soren is a young owlet that gets captured and is taken to St. Aeggolius Academy. His and a young Elf Owl named Gylfie actions could change the whole owl kingdom! I think that the book would change a lot if it where told from a different point of view, for example if the book where told by Skench or Spoorn the Ablah General and second in command. It would probably tell what the big secret is. I think that it is important to the story that the book is told by Soren's point of view because I think it is exciting to here about the moon blinking plan, and the crack, and if it was from the perspective of any other owls it would make the story less enjoyable.

I never thought about what would happen if Ramona told the story. I think that you are totally right , it would really change the book if Ramona told the story! I think that the story is told by a narrator, but that's just my opinion . I also have not read the books in a while so I could have forgot! I just thought of something, your copy could be different, because when a book is turned into a movie sometimes they will make a new book that is totally different! I realized that Livie Doo has the new book so thats why I said that!

Hi right now I am reading a book called Matilda by Roald dahl. The story is told by Matilda. But if it was by her parents it would be alot different because her parents do not like her and think she is a little twig.If it was told by Mrs. Hony MatiI think matilda's teacher it would by very charming.I think that matilda wishes her parents would be more charming.

"Gardians of Ga'hoole" soundslike a good book. I can't really agree with what you said in your blog entry because I haven't read the book. What was your favorite part of it?
