I think I have saw a movie similar to the book,but I have forgotten the title. I REALLY what to know what the spider in the jar means. I predict that the two friends will catch spiders over the summer or the play a trick on the bullies with the spider. I think it has really good detail like when she describes when the bullies walk away from her. I was surprised when Mrs.S told us about all the awards it won.

Hi it's Ben.º_º I can't believe the two bullies tied Gabe up like that. Even for a bully that's way to far. I have a feeling that at the end of the book, Gabe is going to put up with the two bullies at the end of the book. I wonder if the spider in the jar on the front of the book is incorporated in the story. I think Krindlekrax and The Liberation of Gabriel King have the same plot. I can't wait to read more!!!
hi its jp my reaction to the book is wow plus. Those two boys I forgot their names but they were definitely mean. also I think they find the spider in a attic or on the play ground when they go to play. For the first time in the new grade. So they put it in a container after they milk it.

I forgot the boys name, he's the one stuck under the picnic table.If I were him I would just run out there, somebody would notice.I wonder what his friend was thinking when he didn't cheer and clap for her.I wonder what will happen when they call his name and he doesn't show up. What will his parents do? I wounder what will happen when he goes to fifth grade.Will the mean sixth graders bully him? Or will the bullies get caught.

About the book today. Its seems like Gabriel really feels like he needs to do what hes told. Well I don't know how to put it. I know, he doesn't want to put someone down with what said. For exanple, he said he would whistle loudest and you would be able hear him when Freeda was on to graduate 4th grade. He also doesn't really stand up for himself cause he didn't really do much about Frankie and Duke. Freeda seems stroung, and stands up because Gabriel thought " If Freeda where here she would beat them up", or he said something like that.

I like the book so far. I think maybe something will happen with a spider and a jar. I wonder if Gabe will make a break through to get to the stage and receive his certificate.I think so far it kind of sounds like Krindlkrax in a way. I agree with Kelsey what will happen with the bullies and what will happen over the summer and what will happen in fith grade.!?!?:)(: Love Fuzzel/ lauren

I think the book is very interesting. Every chapter leaves you just waiting and wanting more. I was thinking what Kelsey thought because I do wonder what Gabe's friend thought when she didn't hear Gabe cheer for her. If I were Gabe right now in the story I would feel like crying actually I probably would. Also the bullies at his school are so mean and I don't like in stories how the teacher and parents don't know about the bully so I hope that this isn't one of those stories.

When you read the book it reminded me of Krindlekrax. It made me think of that book because it has a bully in it and the main character is really afraid of him like in Krindlekrax. It also reminded me of Krindlekrax because you used your same bully voice! "He He!" When you read it to me it sounded like an average story beginning . When I say that I mean it was a very very good beginning of a story , I was just saying that I think it kind of has the same mood as a lot of other stores! I think that the story was very exciting and was a great cliff hanger, I just wanted to read more and MORE!!!` When we read it I was wondering what was the exciting thing that would happen to them that summer !!!!

I think Sam had some very good predictions. One of his predictions was that he thought Gabe and his friend might have caught the spider over the summer, I thought that too. When I read books I usually always think about what's on the cover, but I don't judge the book by it's cover.Sam also said how he thought Gabe and his friend would use the spider to play a trick on the bullies. When I read that prediction it made me really wonder. Anyway I love this book !!!!

I agree with Kelsey. If I were Gabe I would want to run out from under the pinic table. I probably woudn't have the guts though. One of the reasons I love this story is because I feel like it really grabs me. Every time we read a chapter or two I just want to keep reading!!!!
When you started reading I didn't want you stop reading. But I know we had to end so I thought we can always read tomorow. Plus I really want to know what the spider in the jar means. I can't wait til tomorow.

Hi room 2308. I was really surprised when they started a fight and the bullies dad called the African American girl a bad name. I am wondering how the spider in the jar is going to relate to the story or what they are going to do with it. On a scale of 1-10 I would say it is a 7 so far. It is kind of getting more interesting as we read it. I am predicting they might poison the bullies with the spider or scare the bullies with it.

Georgia, I agree it always annoys me when the teachers and parents don't know about a bully. But it makes the story interesting.It happens in a lot of stories.But it is the characters fault almost every time in stories like that. If I were the person who was getting bullied I would just tell someone.

Well, one of my first reactions was, that Gabriel is a scaredy cat and Gabriel's friend (I forgot her name) is a dare devil. The book reminds me of KRINDLEKRAX because Gabriel get's bullied just like Ruskin does and Duke reminds me of Elvis. Sam, I agree with you on the spider in the jar thing. I also predict that Gabriel will start to over come his fear of Duke, by playing a trick on him or something. OOOH I just thought of something maybe Duke is horrified of spiders (like Julia S.) so they catch a spider to play a trick on him with. Yes that's exactly what I think will happen!!!!!!!! Everyone tell me if you agree with me.

When I read it I COULDN,T BELIEVE that the bullies tied Gabe up like that. I think that they did it for a few reasons. I think that they did it to him because his best friend is black, and a girl. I was very surprised when Duke's pop called Frita the term for people of color. I didn't know what it meant so I asked my mom. I thought that Gabe's pop was very brave how he stood up to Duke's pop how he is smaller than the rest of the adults. You know how in the beginning it says like all the stuff about being born chicken? In the beginning Gabe says that he thinks that he was born chicken. I think that the spider on the cover has something to do with it. I think that Frita is going to try and get rid of Gabe's fear and have him fight the 2 nasty, terrible, super mean bullies. Also in the end I think that the 2 bullies might finally realize that what they are doing is very wrong. So they liberate (to SET FREE) Gabe by not bullying him and helping him and by BECOMING his FRIEND. I kinda couldn't believe that Gabe did whatever the bullies told him to do. He used to carry their lunch trays, clean up their stuff after gym class, and giving them his snacks that his momma packed for him. Those bullies were UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!!!

Today we watched Open Season and I really liked how it was a different point of view from the audience when Boog was performing because he was trying to catch a deer back stage and it looked like he was tearing the deer apart. From Boog's POV he was knocking everything down and tearing everything up. I also like the rabbits. It was funny when the deer was throwing bunnies at the window. I think that was my favorite part of the whole movie.
We missed Mrs Simonds today too.

Today I was really suprised when Freeda had Gabe make a list and the first thing they were going to do on the list was get rid of Gabes fear of spiders. So I think the spider on the cover has to do with Freeda and Gabe. Plus today Freeda went into her basement and got some jars, and on the cover there is a spider in a jar. So let's see what happens. Hi Mrs.S I really like this book it is really intresting.I wonder if Gabe is going to have the guts to go to 5th grade? If I were Gabe I would just cry after the annouced my name. I think in ways "Krindle Krax" is somewhat the same as the book we are reading. I think that because Gabe and Ruskin are alike I mean they both get bullied and they are both shy. But there are some things that are differnt like Ruskin wants to have the hero part and Gabe doesn't want to go to 5th grade. I really am clueless of whhat the spider in the jar means. I have a couple thoughts though but I can not pick one for sure.I can't wait to read more!!!!!!

So far I really like the book.I think that the reson there is a spider in a gar is beacuse Freta and Gabriel are going to catch a spider and some how (i don't know how)the spider is going to help gabriel in some weird way.I wonder if freta is going to go and stand up to the mean guy!

When we read the first two chapters of Liberation Of Gabriel King, I thought that it was a very good book. When we read it I kept on thinking in my head,"What does the spider have to do with the book?" I was also wondering what will Gabe do about the fifth grade, will he go or stay back? I thought that the bullies where really mean and I was thinking that the bullies would do something really mean to Freida or Gabe and they would get hurt badly! I thought that it was very shocking when the bully tied Gabe's shirt and he could not move and he had to miss the ceremony! Thats just too low!!!!

I think that the book is really good so far. I also think that if the story was being told from Frita or Duke's POV it would be totally different. Duke's POV would sorta be like- "Then we grabbed some rope and other things and tied him up." Or like when Frita fought him it would probably be totally different. So all I am trying to say is that every story has different POV.

I really like the book so fare. Unlike some other books the author wrights it so you can really picture what is going on. I like that it takes places in a real time period and date. I also liked that the book is funny and exciting and not just some boring story about someone's life. I am looking forward to reading more.

Hi mrs.Simondds I agree with Leah I mean Gabe is not standing up for himself. It is almost like he is thinking well it all depends on Freeda. He relies on Freeda and she is trying to help Gabe but he is not trying so hard.I would be very mad at myself if I was Gabe. I wonder how Gabe felt about himself when his mom got mad at him. The book Liberation of Gabriel King remines me of Krindlekrax. Because there is a bully,a boy, adult and parents. I kind of like the book that were reading now more then Krindlekrax. Were not on chapter 2 any more. Were at the part when he now has the spider and they found out what kind of spider it was. I wonder why the bully is bullying the boy.
I Have read somthing kind of like this book. I cant remember what it is called but it is a lot like the book we are reading in class. I agree with Ben it is way way way to ar to tie someone up like that. I think that whatever the main charictes name is I think he will start to like spiders and be a little more augh i cant remember what the word is called but it means that he will stand up for him self more. I wonder whar will happen at the end, dont you? I hope he leans how to stan up for him self and be a little bit for like his bff Rita at least I think that is her name.

I think Gorgia is right I think the book does leave you wanting more. I don't really get what JP means by milking the spider. I did not know the book won awards. I was problbly not listing. I really really really ect love this book

I agree with what ben said about the bullies tying someone up. that is way over the top and I am pretty sure it is illegal. If I were him I would definitely just run out and find an adult or friend to untie me and tell them about the bully. I hope Gabe will stand up to the bully at the end. It's Ben again. When Frieda was out with Gabe catching the spider (Jimmy) it made me laugh as soon as the book said Gabe ripped off his shirt and pants and ran home. I think Gabe is going to end up liking Jimmy. I wonder what Frieda has planned next. I'm really liking the book.
Hello room 2308ers!!:)We finally figured out why the front cover is a spider in a jar!I'm not so sure if the keeping the spider as a pet is going to work out well. Gabe is probably going to loose it "by accident."Although Freta will be making sure that doesn't happen. Gabe will have no choice but to listen. So now I know that he's hates spiders and a ton of other things. I think he named it Jimmy because Jimmy Carter. I don't think hes to thirlled to have a new pet spider. When he screamed and went crazy I think he just got all worked up about the spider. Like sometimes I feal that way when something creeps me out and I feal it. But I'm just imaganine it.

Freeda seems like a really good friend. Shes trying to help Gabe face his fears. If Gabe wanted to face all of them and go to fifth grade, he would have a busy summer. Really mostly since he has millions of things hes scared of. About his spider. I wonder what would happen if it escaped. Gabe may freak. Would he give it to Freeda to deal with or sticking to the deal with Freeda? Who knows.

Hi Mrs.Simonds, I agree with Kelsey I think Gabe is going to lose the spider. I also think they go on a hunt for the sipder and somehow find him. The sipder is impotant to Freeda but to Gabe it is useless. So in a way I think Freeda is trying to get Gabe to love the spider. I now understand why there is a spider in a jar! That was gross when Freta ate those brusle sprouts with chocolate syrup, ice cream, and whipped cream! If I were going to try brusle sprouts I would never think of mixing it with ice cream, chocolate syrup, and whipped cream.I would just plug my nose and swallow it.I'm interested to see what else is on Gabe and Fretas' lists.What if the bullies are on Gabes list, what will Freta make him do?!

I agree with Diana. Those bullies are really mean. I have not been bullied but it must feel realy bad. I hope somone finds out what they did to Gabe. I also hope that Gabe stands up to them at the end. Really liking the book so far.

I wonder why the writer chose to make the main characters best friend a girl. I think it is cool how the writer made the characters think that one of the peoples mom was dead but she really wasnt . I wonder why. I also want to know why the bully is so mean, I wonder what happens in his life to make him so mean.

Well because you said that we could write a blog that was not on the topic but was about reading and I wanted to do all my blogs tonight, here is my blog! I am reading a book called Canterwood Crest ,Take The Reins! it is about a girl named Sasha Silver who is a really good horseback rider and she goes to a vary good horseback riding/school school. In it she has to deal with a mean girl , a new school, and much more! There is a mean girl in it named Heather and her "friends". They are always doing mean things to Sasha to make sure that Heather takes a spot in the advanced class! One time on Sasha's first riding class, Heather put up signs that said , " Horseback riding, Moved to outer ring" and when Sasha finely realized that Heather had put up the signs, she was already late for class and was in trouble! I can't wait to finish this awesome book!
