The Last of the Really Great Wangdoodles by Julie Andrews Edwards

Hello Room Full of Readers!
I am so excited to be reading you one of my all-time favorite books!  I hope you enjoy it as much as I did at your age.
We have read to chapter 5, and have met the main characters and a few others.  I am curious to hear your impressions of those characters so far.

Discussion Points:
1.  Tell me who your favorite character is so far and why.  Make sure you give me examples from the book to back up your claim.
2. Who is your least favorite character so far, and why?
3. Who is the character you are the most curious about, and why?

Happy Reading!

Dear Mrs. Simonds,
My favorite character so far is Lindy. ( I think that is her name but I am not sure) I like her because she has the best imagination, in my opinion. She believes in Whangdoodles, and wants to do lessons. She doesn't think using your imagination is silly. My least favorite character is the man who was going to try to stop the scientist from taking the kids with him. It sort of made me shudder thinking about him. He is also the character I am most suspicious about. I wonder what he is going to do to try to stop the scientist and if it will work or not. I hope his plan doesn't work!

THIS IS THE BEST BOOK EVER!!!

Dear Mrs. Simonds,

Lindy is my favorite character because she has an active imagination. Since she has the most active imagination, she can help her two older brothers and Professor Savant in The Last Of The Really Great Whangdoodles.

Ben is my least favorite character because he has the least active imagination. For example when he did not believe in the Whangdoodle.

The character I am mort curious about is Professer Savant because he is a man and he had enough imagination to go to the land of the Whangdoodle. When the Potter's had first met Professor Savant they thought he was crazy, but know that they have gotten to know him they realize he is not crazy. He has been to the land of the whangdoodle and he has won the Noble Peace Price.

1. My favorite character is Lindy. She is funny when she says she's not scared even though she is. I liked when she said she wanted to be a Whangdoodle for Halloween even though she ended up being a Lion.

2. My least favorite characters are Mr. and Mrs. Potter because they don't have a big part in the story yet and they don't say much or do anything.

3. The character that I am most curious about is the Professor because he lives in a house that people think is haunted and he claims he saw a Whangdoodle. I wonder if he really has seen a Whangdoodle?

I can't wait to read more in school!

3) I am most Interested in the proc because he is really mysterious.

Hi josh here,
I think my favorite character so far is the oldest( Iforget his name but will probably remember later) because he is so kind to his siblings like when lindsy asked him to pretect her during halloween he said sure. I think my least favorite character so far is the middle boy Nick I think his name is but anyway, I think this because he just acts like a know-it-all but knows he isnt. I am curious about miss somthing or inb other words, the house keeper because when she said she wishes she was a witch and meeting the slender guy made me think maybe they relate in someway.

Hola Mrs. Simonds,
Let's see my favorite caracter so far would have to be Lindsey, I like her because she is always so talkitive and curios. Like when they were in the Professer's home and they were talking about the children coming along with the Professer to back to Whangdoodleland. She always had a question to ask.
My least favorite, that I would have to back to you on because I really do like all of them.
I am most curios about the Professer, I mean at first the children think he's just a strange little fellow but then they find he lives in the so called HAUNTED HOUSE. Then they find that he is the professer who has recently won the Nobel Peice Prize. It all seems very............fishy.

Dear Mrs.Simonds,
1.My favorite character so far is Lindy. I like her because she is very curious and daring. She is curious because she kept on asking about the wangdoodles. She is daring because she went in the house that every one thinks is haunted.
2.My least favorite character so far is Ben because he is really bossy. When they met the old man at the zoo he didn't want the younger kids to talk to him.
3.I am most curious about the old man because he might be lying or telling the truth.

Hi Mrs Simonds,
My favorite character so far is the professor because he is very smart, has lots of cool animals like the multicolored rabbit, (I really want one!) He is also very funny because he was walking in the street looking up and almost got hit by a car.
My least favorite character is the Prock because he is very creepy........ and he doesn't want Lindy, Ben, Tom, and the professor to go to Whangdoodleland.
I am most curious about the Prock because what if he does something bad to Ben, Lindy, Tom, and professor Savant?

Hi Mrs.Siomonds,
My favorite character in this book is Lindy because she believes more than the Ben and Tom especially Tom,like when the little man was talking to them and was telling them about the Wangdoodles Lindy believed in them. Ben and Tom didn't until the man told him he could take them to the Wangdoodle land.
My least favorite character is Tom because he doesn't like Lindy and she is my favorite character and also he always starts fights.
I think that the most curious character is the professor because you don't know exactly who he is and what he is up to and also is he has a connection with the land of the Wangdooles.

Dear Jessa, Lucy, Emma, Brianna, and Cassie,

I agree with Jessa that mysterious creature is interesting and it is very mysterious. Lucy, I agree with you that Lindy has the best imagination because she is the youngest. I agree with Emma that Mrs. Potter and Mr. Potter are not a very big part in the story, but what if they were, what would they do? I agree with you Brianna that the story is all very fishy. I also agree with Cassie because the mysterious creature is very interesting.

Hi Mrs,Simonds,
My favorite character would have to be Lindy. I like Lindy because she's not a shy girl like others.
My least least favorite character would be Ben. He's my least favorite because he's really bossy and he doesn't really look after his sister Lindy.
The character I'm curious about is the professor. I am because of his imagination. And because of him beliveing about the wangdoodle.

GRACE!! :D :* :) :/

My favorite character is Tom because he is so riduculus and silly. Tom gets ahead of himself in logic.
My least favorite is Ben. He just keeps on acting like he's a grown-up and all. He is boring.
I'm most curious about Sevant, he is a crazy french-dude. I'm wondering how he is going to teach the children about Wangdoodle Land.

Hi Mrs. Simonds,
My favorite character in The Last of the Really Great Wangdoodles is Tom because he seems very smart and curious about his adventure to Wangdoodle land. Like when he first got to the professor's house and the professor told him about Wangdoodle land and how you must use your imagination to get there. Tom thought this was crazy nonsense.
My least favorite character is Lindy. She seems like a typical little sister to Tom and Ben. She takes too many chances in my opinion.
The character that I am most curious about is the professor and how exactly he will get the kids to Wangdoodle land. He seems like a crazy old man that won the Nobel Prize. I wonder how he has the biggest imagination ever.

Dear Mrs. Simonds:

1) My favorite character is Professor Savant. I like him because he uses very descriptive words and has a great personality. In the Book he always says words like dimension, illusion, waistcoat, pavilion and prominent.

2) My least favorite character is the Mom. I think she does not really care for her kids and lets them do whatever they want. For instance, when her kids went to the scary house for trick or treating. She also allows them to go over to a stranger's house every day.

3) The character I am most curious about is Professor Savant. I think Professor Savant is very mysterious and I think he is hiding something. I think this because in the book he lives in an old and abandoned house and he likes to be alone.

Lindy is my favorite character too! I also think that she is VERY curious. I am also mostly curious about the professor. It does seem very fishy. I think that the prock might do something bad to the kids and the professor.

mean by dareing. My least favorite so far is lindy because she is always so hyper and wild.she also is a little anyoing at times to her bro's.The character im really curiouse about is ben because he did not beive he could make it to whangdoodle land. And he seems a little upset about somthing.~Matt

Hi Pual
I also think that Ben is kind of full of himself. He is full of himself because he is the oldest out of the kids. Although the power in being the oldest would probably go to my head too. I would be doing the same exact same thing if I were the oldest kid in my family. I agree with you on everything besides the part were you said that he is boring. If he was boring there is no way in heck he would be going to Wangdoodle land.

Hi Mrs.Simonds,
I have done all the blog entries but I decided to do this one again.
Now that we are more into the story
I have a change of favorite character. I like Tom now. I like him because he started believing more. My proof is that in the beginning of the book when they looked up Wangdoodle in the dictionary he didn't believe. But then they started taking lessons and know he does believe. I don't really have a least favorite character but if I had to pick on it would be splinter cat I don't know why but there is something not
right about him I think this because I noticed that he asked Lindy to go to his house and she said yes. It doesn't seem right that she would do that. It doesn't seem like something she would do.
I am also curious about splinter cat because of the fact that he took Lindy way into Wangdoodle Land
is kind of weird. Also when she ate the candy she was tired she wasn't tired before. That seems weird to me.

Hi Will Mac
1. I agree that the mom seems like she doesn't care that much about her kids because she lets them go to this strange professors old, creepy house. I can't really say I hate her because she hasn't been in the book enough.
2. I think that would be a really good book if he was hiding something but just because he lives in an abandoned house doesn't mean he has something to hide. By the way the house isn't abandoned because he lives inside of it. How did you figure out he likes to be alone?

Dear Mrs. Simonds and Paul,

I agree with you that Tom is really ridiculous. But I do not really get how he is crazy because he always trying to set an example for Tom and Lindy. I do agree that Sevant is very interesting. I think he is going to be some kind of criminal of something. I liked your Blog it was very well written. I was also wondering how he was going to teach the kid about Wangdoddle Land. Great book talk It was very BRO!
