Spiderwick

Hello Room 2308 Goblins!

What did you think of the Spiderwick Cronicles?  I love it, but then again, I tend to love the genre of fantasy.  Do you?
Some of my favorite books are from this genre.  One I really loved when I was in 5th grade was "The Last Of The Really Great Wangdoodles".  I think I liked that so much because of the idea of using your imagination to travel to a secret world.  I also loved the crazy, wacky characters.
The Narnia series was also a favorite, I think I read them all about 5 times each!  There was a secret world involved there as well....hmmm....seems to be a pattern for me...:)
Tell me about your involvement with the fantasy genre.  Do you tend to like to read fantasy?  What are some of the best fantasy books that you have read?  Tell me what was so good about them.
If you do not particularly like fantasy, tell me why.  Tell me about a fantasy book that you have read and what may have turned you off of the genre.
Happy Goblin and Fantastical Creature Hunting.....
Mrs. S

Dear Mrs. Simonds,

I really like fantasy. I also thought that the Spiderwick movie was very good. It made me want to read the books! It kind of stinks, because I like to read the books before I see the movie, also it will sometimes ruin the books for me if I see the movie first! Anyway, like I was saying I really like fantasy. I like it when something really exciting happens, and if it is a fantasy story something really exciting and impossible can happen! I have read the My sister the vampier series and I really liked them! I think that the reason I liked them because they are very exciting and in a fantasy anything can happen witch is why I think I liked the book so much, because I never knew what would happen!

Hi Mrs.Simonds, I loved the movie I wonder if the book is better? Anyway I do not like the genre fantasy I do not know way I just tend to read realistic fiction and mystery books. Well a a couple times I have tried to read Harry Potter I did not like it. It just doesn't pull me in I get bored. I am not the kind of person who likes make-belive books. I would much rather a realistic fiction book. I really loved the movie I wish there was another one if there is we NEED to watch it . Well see you tommorow from monkey101 a.k.a Julia.h

To room 2308

I really like the spider wick movie. I'm the kind of person that likes goblins and mythical creatures and that kind of stuff. My favorite fantasy series is the magic tree house. I think it is probably the closest series to the spider wick series. It's pretty much like two or three kids that battle and make friends with creatures.

At the moment I really can't think of a good fantasy book I read before besides Emily Windsnap. I truely don't know why I liked it so much.

Hey Mrs.Simonds,

I loved the Spiderwick Cronicles too. Also I love fantasy it's so cool because every book has a solution and in fiction the endings are endless. One of the fiction books I have read is Harry Potter [the 1st one]. In Harry Potter, Harry find out he's a wizard and goes to a school called Hogwarts and makes some friends and gets into some trouble. What pulled me out of the fiction genre was summer vacation because we had summer vacation and I sort of lost reading and found it again this year and fell in love with realistic fiction.

Hola!
I don't tend to read fantasy that much. I haven't read a fantasy book since first grade, but I've had fantasy books read to me like in school. I think the last fantasy book someone read to me was Krindlekrax. I liked that book a lot. Another fantasy book liked was Poppy, it's about a mouse that's boyfriend gets eaten by an owl. So poppy goes out on a mission to kill the owl. It's hard for me to remember because my third grade teacher read it to my class. All I really remember is that it's funny and really good. I love to write fantasy books though there really fun to write because you make up the whole thing. Other than in realistic fiction there has to be some stuff in it that is real.

Dear mrs. Simonds,

I LOVE fantasy it is my second favorite genre. I liked the spider wick movie because i liked the point of the story or i liked what it is about. I like the ida of a magical world that you can only see with a spy glass thing or by getting spit on by a hoggoblin or something like that. I also loved the book The really great wagdoodles it is a great book my dad read it to me in 4th grad. what i like about fantasy is that anything wild or crazy could happen for example. If there was a girl named Robyn it could start out with her living in turkey then all of a sudden a unicorn could come down and take her to unicorn land. I know that is not the best example but it is close enough. I agre with ben in the harry potter book.

HOLA MRS.SIMONDS!!!!!!!!

I think fantasy is okay it's not my favorite. I think some of my favorite fantasy books are Need and Captivate. They are a series about Pixies and shape shifters you know, magical things. Need is about a girl named Zara who is so sad that her step father died nshe has to move to Maine to her grandmothers house. She starts her new life at a school where 5 kids are supicous and she finds out later her grandmother is also supicous. She finds a girl named Issie who is weird and knows a secret. Issie introduces Zara to Nick and Devyn. One day Zara goes into the woods and finds a hurt wolf so she goes upstairs to get a blanket but when she comes back down she finds Nick on the couch.
Later in the book Zara and Nick are locked in Zaras room with the pixie king on the other side of the door. Near the end of Need Zara finds out Devyn and herself are pixies also Zaras real dad is the pixie king and Zaras grandmother and Nick are shape shifters. Then in the book Captivate all it is mostly is Zara and everyone capturing the pixie king so he will not take Zara away.

Hi!

Julia i'm glad I talked you into reading The Miraculous Journey Of Edward Tolane. It is a great book, definitely. I have read it once or twice. I recommend it to EVERYBODY! It's a GREAT fantasy book. Maybe on of the best! The author is Kate DiCamillo. She also wrote another great book called The Tales Of Despourex. It's pronounced Des-pour-oh. I think it's french. I also recommend it to everybody! Despourex is about a mouse named Despourex who falls in love with a princess. You'll have to read it to find out more. My favorite books are usually humorous books because I like a good laugh while reading!

PLEASE READ BOTH BOOKS THAT I MENTIONED! THERE GRRRRREAT!
